October 2021

October was filled with a few game releases and loads of game-changing news. These are our top stories from the month that was October 2021.

God of War Coming To PC

The Santa Monica Studios game released in 2018 has been announced to release to Steam and Epic Games on January 14th, 2022. This, along with other originally PlayStation exclusive titles being released to PC, and the PlayStation PC page being changed to “PlayStation PC”, it seems that Sony will no longer be focusing on exclusivity and will send more and more titles to PC releases.

Potential FIFA Rebrand

Following reports of EA filling trademarks of ‘EA Sports FC’, rumours have circulated that EA is considering a rebrand of its FIFA titles…with no FIFA involved. This, allegedly, is caused by FIFA wanting up to $1 billion every 4 years for licensing rights. This, with Konami’s PES franchise also undergoing a recent rebrand, puts the future of football video games into an odd place and future.

Nintendo Releases N64 Emulation

It's unfortunate that Nintendo has tried a somewhat similar idea to Xbox Game Pass and just missed the mark. Speaking of…

Xbox Game Pass Numbers Miss The Mark

While the October and especially the November games lists are very impressive, Xbox Game Pass hasn’t performed as Microsoft was hoping. It has grown at an amazing 38% rate while Microsoft was hoping for 48%. It’s slower growth but with the game releases for November being as good as it is I think Microsoft might just see a bit more of the growth they wanted soon enough.

Battlefield 2042 Beta

The Battlefield 2042 beta was released in early October and, as excited as I was to play it, doesn’t look very appealing. Technically it’s great, but it was plagued with performance issues. Countless graphic issues, game-breaking bugs, fps drops and other issues have been reported. DICE has said the beta was an older build and if that’s not true and these issues are still around, they might want to look into another delay to just iron out the rough edges. We can only wait and see…
