In a move that may single handedly break the internet, Microsoft has bought Activision Blizzard and its studios for a staggering sum of $68.7 Billion. This follows the allegations of sexual harassment and cover-ups against employees of Activision Blizzard in recent months. Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, stated in November that he was "evaluating all aspects" of their relationship with the company. The acquisition now leaves franchises such as Call of Duty, Overwatch and World of Warcraft in Microsoft’s hands. Controversially current CEO Bobby Kotick will remain as CEO for the foreseeable future. The deal is expected to close in 2023.

With all these acquisitions one can only wonder where this will take the future of gaming and potential monopolies in the gaming market as Microsoft is now the 3rd largest gaming company behind Tencent and Sony. Leave us your thoughts on our social media pages. Written By Chris.J
