We are more than a third into 2022 and we have had some spectacular titles release such as Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West, but with another eight months to go, what else can we be expecting. Well, here is a list of my personal choice of games I am excited for in the coming months of 2022.

LIES OF P
First up is Lies Of P, a very interesting and creative project based on the familiar tale of Pinocchio but with a dark, gritty and gothic twist. A vast majority of gamers dubbing this the Bloodborne sequel they never got but with no official ties to from software. The plot centres around guiding our protagonist a steampunk like Pinocchio in the quest to become human with souls-like combat mixed in and fantastic visuals. Currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X and PC and expected this late this year. It’s by far one of the most unique games on this list and I cant wait to play it.

GOD OF WAR: RAGNAROK
Next up is something that everyone will be aware of, especially PlayStation fans. God Of War Ragnarök from Santa Monica studios is the next huge exclusive for the PS5. After the success of the first instalment in a soft reboot in 2018, this sequel follows on years later from that story. Once again Kratos will be our protagonist and joined by his son, better known as Loki. These two games serve as a duel playing experience according to the developers with this Norse narrative concluding in Ragnarök’s story. Given the critical acclaim of the last entry I have no doubts that the sequel will do the same if not better than its predecessor in every regard. Like Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West providing an evolution of visuals, narrative, animation and gameplay. Kratos is just around the corner, with a new adventure and more gods that will feel the wrath of his axe.

STRAY
Now we have something rather special and unique to look at with the release of Stray looming towards the middle of 2022. But what is Stray? Well put simply it’s an adventure game about a cute cat with a backpack. Developed by Blue Twelve studio its creativeness showcases what we need more within the game industry, fun and different ways of thinking and designing games. Cat fans will for sure go crazy for this one and just about any PlayStation fan as it will launch exclusively for that console alone and PC. Not much is known about the premise or gameplay but it’s a cute cat, so I want it.

FORSPOKEN
Before we look at our final entry, lets add an exciting new role-playing game to this list with a promising strong narrative from the legends over at Square Enix. Forspoken, currently scheduled for October 2022 after a delay that was unfortunately needed due to fan feedback regarding comments of needing more polish. You play as Frey, a modern-day girl trapped in a world of magic and war, forging her path into a fantastical journey. Given it needed more time in the oven, hopefully by the time we get our hands on it will be a spectacular experience that is being promised. It looks phenomenal and very like Final Fantasy, nevertheless, a female of colour leading a major RPG project for PlayStation is an exciting prospect for diversity at the very least and will inspire more variety in gaming.

STARFIELD
Here we are finally at the end of our list, with possibly the most tentatively exciting project that has yet to even be properly revealed. A worrying prospect for some given its release looming in November 2022 but Starfield is nearly here and is Bethesda’s new baby. After the recent Microsoft acquisition of Bethesda, many are in a wary mindset of what this means for past and future titles from the legendary role-playing studio. But at this stage its all speculation besides a teaser trailer, some concept art showcased and the promise of Starfield running in a brand-new engine, there’s not a lot to go on. Given their failings with Fallout 76 they seem to be taking no chances and making sure their sci-fi RPG adventure ends up being all they can offer with comments such as ‘’Skyrim in space’’ being shouted around the gaming industry. Let’s keep our hype under control!
